We’re a homeschool family, using a Charlotte Mason-inspired, literature-based approach. My kids love to do crafts, so this seemed like a no-brainer. Well, my kids started fighting over who would get to cut out and assemble each figure. And when they realized there were TWO copies of each figure (one fully colored, and one line drawing), it was bliss. I would recommend this for any kids, truly, but especially for home schooling families. This has been a HUGE win for us!

As a homeschooling mother of 5, I enthusiastically recommend the Famous Figures articulated puppets! This product exceeded my expectations and I have been thrilled with our children’s excitement over making the figures. The fun didn’t stop after they were made…they pull them out to play with and show people…like Grandma who came over today. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS INCLUDED WITH THE ANCIENT PUPPET COLLECTION & WHAT WILL I NEED?
The printable articulated ancient puppet collection contains three resources that can help you quickly engage your kids in history. You will need scissors, colored pencils or crayons, a 1/8” hole punch, and mini brads to assemble the figures.
First, our articulated historical puppets for your kids to make, are from our Ancient Times and Queen Esther book. You get both of them combined in one digital package.
In addition, key facts are included for each person. You will also get an ancient times reading list for read-alouds or to use with children who are independent readers.
Lastly, a checklist of famous men and women from ancient Egypt through the Roman empire. Use this printable to quickly inventory the key people your kids already know and find out whom you would like to study next.
HOW DO I MAKE THE ARTICULATED PUPPETS?
Download the pdf file onto card stock. The pdf file may be printed with a front and back side. If you do not have a double sided printer, print the front side only.
You will need a 1/8” hole punch and mini brads to put the articulated puppet together. You can get these at a local craft store or on our web site.
Next, chose which of the two versions of the figure you would like to make. One is already colored so you cut out all of the puppet body pieces. The other version allows your child to color the puppet before cutting out the pieces. Then punch a hole at each joint with a small 1/8” hole punch. Finally, use mini brads to assemble the figure and make it move! A letter key is on the back of the doll body pieces to make it easy to assemble.
HOW CAN I USE THESE PUPPETS?
The digital ancient puppet collection can be used to supplement your history curriculum, unit study, or as a stand alone activity. Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Color and assemble the puppets during a history lesson, unit study, read aloud time, or just for fun.
- Decorate a wall or time line with your assembled ancient puppets, that are 12 to 13 inches tall.
- Read a biography of someone in the collection (reading list is included) then make and use the figure as a prop to narrate a short summary of his or her life.
- Include puppets in a lap-book project or with a written report.
- Make puppets with string, craft sticks, or pipe cleaners and put on a play.
- Produce a stop-motion animation clip using magnets or felt on the back of the puppets.
CAN I GET A PHYSICAL COPY?
Visit our website to get our books that are already printed on to cardstock. The books included in this offer are Famous Figures of Ancient Times and Footsteps of Faith Queen Esther. You will not be able to get the special offer pricing, but will have to buy the individual books.
The check list is not available as a physical copy.
WHERE CAN I GET A HOLE PUNCH AND MINI BRADS TO MAKE THE FIGURES?
The 1/8” hole punch and mini brads are available at craft stores and online retailers such as Michaels, Hobby Lobby, and on our website. We recommend punching a hole at the joints to easily place the mini brads.
WHICH HISTORICAL FIGURES ARE INCLUDED IN THIS PUPPET COLLECTION?
Sargon the Great

Alexander the Great
Qin Shi Huangdi
Hannibal’s War Elephant
Constantine the Great
Esther of Persia
